Best Solar Panels For The Prymax Power Stations/Solar Generators
Prymax is a somewhat new company that makes solar generators and power stations in different sizes. They’re similar to Jackery in terms of what they have to offer.
Prymax solar generators don’t come with solar panels included with the purchase, but you can charge them in a car or from a wall outlet out of the box. If you want to charge it with the sun, you’ll need a compatible solar panel.
Some panels are compatible with the Prymax power stations out of the box, but most larger ones require an adapter cable to make the connection.
Today I’ll help you find the best compatible panels, and show you what adapter you need if you want to connect larger panels.
Use Any Third-Party Solar Panels With The Prymax Solar Generators
You can use any solar panel with Prymax solar generators if you have an adapter. The adapter you’ll need is the Aimtom MC4 to DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm (click to view on Amazon).

Solar Panels That Are Compatible With Prymax Solar Generators
The links below will take you to the product on Amazon.com.
The FlashFish 50W 18V Solar Panel – This is made by a different company than Prymax, but it’s compatible out of the box. It’s a very portable and foldable solar panel that is made with two flexible 50W panels. Using flexible panels makes the kit much lighter than if FlashFish would’ve used solid panels. It also has a handle which makes it easy to carry around and store.
The Rockpals Foldable 100W – If you’re looking for one of the most portable solar panels to charge your Prymax with, the popular Rockpals foldable 100 watt solar panel is a great choice. It’s compatible with the Prymax power stations out of the box because it comes with several different connectors that work not only with brands like Goal Zero and Prymax, but directly with some laptop brands as well.
The Rockpals Foldable 60W Solar Panel – The same panel as above but a 60W option. More lightweight and smaller in size, so a more portable solar panel in general.
The Renogy 100W Solar Panel – Renogy is a reputable brand and this 100W solar panel is a very popular one. I actually own two of these that I have mounted on top of my travel trailer. All you need to connect it to a Prymax solar generator is the Aimtom MC4 to DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm. It’s a monocrystalline panel that is durable and while not very portable compared to the foldable alternatives, it’s the kind of panel you mount on top of a vehicle, RV, or home. You could also use it as a portable panel if you cover it when traveling so it doesn’t scratch.
The Richsolar 50W Flexible Monocrystalline Solar Panel – A smaller panel but from a good brand. You’ll need the Aimtom MC4 to DC 5.5mm x 2.1mm to make the connection between the panel and the solar generator. For most people, a 50W solar panel is more than enough.
The KingSolar 40W Foldable Solar Charger – KingSolar makes this foldable charger that is compatible with the Prymax power stations out of the box. This will charge the smallest Prymax 178Wh from empty to full in a day of full sun, so it’s still a very good choice. Not everyone need to use power all day, but at night to recharge their devices, and that’s when a small panel like this 40W option will be just good enough.
What To Think About When Choosing A Solar Panel For A Prymax Solar Generator
When choosing a solar panel to use with your solar generator, it’s the VOC and wattage that is relevant. We have to stay within the lines of what the solar charge controller connected to the battery can handle. In Prymax’s case, panels up to 23V are supported as long as you stay under 150W in total watts.
Can I Charge A Prymax Solar Generator With A Solar Panel With USB Ports?
Unfortunately, you need a solar panel with either MC4 connectors, or other DC connectors to charge Prymax batteries.
How Can I Make A Solar Panel More Efficient?
You should make sure the panel is clean. It’s also important with most panels that they’re not shaded even a little bit. A little bit of shade on 10% of the panel’s surface can bring down the efficiency significantly.
Another important thing to do in the morning, the evening, and during the winter months if you’re outdoors camping then as well, is to tilt/angle the solar panel so it faces the sun straight on.
This means that you’ll have to get creative if the panel doesn’t have a kickstand.
Some foldable panels can be hung in a tree or on a vehicle with some rope so you can use the early and late sun hours of the day. The more it’s facing the sun, the better.
How To Combine Several Solar Panels To Charge A Prymax Power Station
You can combine several panels with a Signstek Y Branch MC4 Parallel Connector as long as you’ve chosen panels with MC4 connectors.
You will use the positive wire from both and plug them into one of the adapters, then do the same thing with the negative wires. This way you can combine several panels.
There are larger Y Branch MC4 connectors if you want to use 3 panels or more as well.
What you need to think about when combining panels is to not go above the max input wattage, and to make sure that all the cables and adapters can handle the total amperage.
It’s also the best to combine two panels that are exactly the same, so they have the same voltage, although it’s not necessary.
Let me know down below if you have any questions.
Is it possible to charge and use the prymax at the same time?
Thanks
Hello William,
You can use the USB ports while the Prymax is charging, but not the 110V AC outlet. The inverter will turn off when the battery starts charging.
Jesse
so what panel do I need 100w input to charge it prymax
Hi,
This one by Funaurore (click to view on Amazon) is a great option.
Im having an issue with my prymax cords (much much slower charge now, not sure what happened with it) that you plug into a receptacle. im wondering what i can replace them with?
Hi,
I wonder if it’s the power station slowing down the charge and not the charging cables. I recommend reaching out to Prymax to ask what could be the problem here.
Good morning. I have a 1200 watt prymax. I’m wondering if there is a way to add a external battery pack to my 1200 solar generator. To give me more power.
Hi,
I didn’t find any information about the Prymax 1200W being expandable, so unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible.
do the solar panels that Harbor freight sell work . the 100 w ones.
Hi,
If it’s the panel with SAE connectors, then it should work with an SAE to DC5521 adapter like this (click to view on Amazon). Make sure to connect the panel directly to the power station without a solar charge controller between the two.
